Dr. Petrov has been awarded a two-year grant by the National Science Foundation Office of Polar Programs to study human capital in the Arctic. Using data from Arctic countries he will examine spatial distribution, economic role and community development potential of creative capital (individuals who either possess high levels of education and/or are engaged in creative types of activities) in northern peripheries. Dr. Petrov will also lead the effort in developing a web-based GIS portal that will provide northern communities and decision-makers with information on regional and local creative geographies. See more information on the Creative Arctic Project.
